Console & Decorative Unit Design in Kolkata
The entryway sets the tone of a home in about four seconds, and in most flats it is the last thing anyone designs.
The approach
What goes into a console & decor units from us.
One console fixes it: closed shoe storage, a surface for keys and post, a mirror at the right height, and a light. The smallest-budget change with the largest first impression.

Included as standard
- Entryway planning — shoe count, seating and drop-zone
- Console with closed storage and an open display surface
- Ventilated shoe racking with pull-down or drawer access
- Mirror at standing height, framed or frameless
- Room partitions and jaali screens between living and dining
- Decorative wall niches and accent shelving
- Integrated seating for putting shoes on
- Concealed key, mail and charging drop zone
- Accent lighting above the console surface
- Finishing coordinated with the adjacent living room

Materials & finishes
What we actually build in.

Veneer & laminate
Matched to the living room so the entry does not read as separate.

Fluted screens
Partition work that divides space without blocking light.

Solid timber
Legs and frames from our own timber stock, in oil or matte finish.

Stone tops
A marble or quartz surface that shrugs off keys and wet umbrellas.

Metal frames
Slim black or brass frames for open display and shoe racks.

Ventilated shoe fronts
Perforated or slatted shutters so the cabinet does not hold odour.

Questions
Console & Decor Units — the questions we get asked.
- Three feet of wall is enough for a genuinely useful console — closed shoe storage below, a drop surface at 32 inches and a mirror above. We have built workable versions in 2.5 feet where the lobby is tight.
- Yes — fluted screens and jaali partitions divide a space visually while letting light through. It is the usual answer when a living-dining needs separation but the room only has windows on one side.
- We do. Our Rajarhat workshop has made loose furniture since 1974, so a console can be built as a movable piece rather than a fitted unit if you are renting.
