Fifty Years of Furniture, Ten of Whole Interiors
The interior design division of Mozammel Haque Timbers, who have made furniture in Rajarhat since 1974 and taken on complete turnkey interiors since 2015. Canvas is the interior work; Brick is the construction business we are building next.
Where it began
A timber yard in Rajarhat, 1974.
Mozammel Haque Timbers started in the wood trade and moved quickly into making furniture from it — beds, almirahs and dining sets, built to order for families across north-east Kolkata. An unglamorous trade that teaches you the difference between what a supplier claims about a board and what the board actually is.
By the 1990s we employed our own carpenters, and customers who came for a bed began asking for the whole bedroom. In 2015we answered that properly and expanded into turnkey interior decoration — taking on the ceiling, the wiring, the paint, the flooring and the stone as well as the joinery, under one contract. Canvas & Brick, launched in 2026, is the name that decade of work now carries.
We are, unusually, an interior company that started at the material end rather than the drawing end. Nobody here has to phone a subcontractor to find out what your wardrobe is made of.

1974
Mozammel Haque Timbers starts up
The family begins manufacturing furniture in Rajarhat out of a rented shop — beds, almirahs and dining sets built to order from seasoned wood.
1983
The first premises of our own
A portion of the shop is bought outright, and the business expands on the back of it.
2005
The shop is expanded
More floor space and more capacity. Customers start asking for whole rooms rather than single pieces.
2015
Into turnkey interior design
The decisive step: the business expands from furniture into complete interior design — ceilings, electricals, painting, flooring and fitted joinery delivered as one turnkey contract.
2026
Canvas & Brick is launched
The interior work is brought under its own name — five decades of furniture making and a decade of turnkey interiors, pointed at complete homes.

Your units are cut and assembled by our own team, in the workshop this family has run since 1974. Come and watch — most clients do.

We came from timber
Four decades of making furniture before we fitted out our first flat in 2015. It shows in the material selection and the joinery.

A named project manager runs your site from first measurement to handover. One number to call.

A date that means something
The completion date goes into the contract before work starts, with weekly progress photographs to show it is holding.

We are still here afterwards
Five to fifteen years on the units and two to ten on the hardware, depending on the tier you pick — and we turn up when a door needs adjusting.
